Sexual assault suspect apprehended

TORONTO – On Friday, July 15 an alleged incident involving sexual assault – in the form of unwanted kissing and hugging – occurred in Bethune Residence on the University's Keele Campus. No injuries were reported and the suspect was apprehended swiftly and is currently in the custody of Toronto Police Services (TPS).

It was reported that a male suspect made his way into the residence building and entered a room occupied by two female community members, where the assault occurred.

York University continues to provide support to the ongoing TPS investigation, and is investigating the circumstances of the incident and access to the residence. Full supports are being offered to those involved.
