Professor's bilingualism research circles the globe

York University Professor Ellen Bialystok spoke to the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) about how being bilingual can prevent the onset of Alzheimer's. Media in the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, India and the Middle East reported on Bialystok's research.

Bialystok, a Distinguished Research Professor in York's Department of Psychology, Faculty of Health,  has published widely on bilingualism and its effects on aging, including a recent study in collaboration with Toronto's Baycrest Research Centre for Aging and the Brain.

In December 2010, she accepted the $100,000 Killam Prize for outstanding career achievement.
