York’s AQUA robot was featured on Discovery Channel's Daily Planet on January 14; click here to view the video (fast forward to 1:10 mark). The robot is a joint project of York, McGill and Dalhousie universities, and can be controlled wirelessly using a waterproof tablet built at York. While underwater, divers can program the tablet to display tags onscreen, similar to barcodes read by smartphones. The robot’s camera then scans these two-dimensional tags to receive and carry out commands. For York’s video of AQUA in action, click here .  For more information on AQUA, see York's news release.
