York U expert available for comment on the spread of measles

Toronto, Feb. 2, 2015 – Toronto Public Health officials are now investigating four cases of measles in the city. With the number of measles cases rising rapidly in the southern United States, following an outbreak at Disneyland last month, there is growing interest in how infectious diseases spread.

Jane Heffernan, associate professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at York University and Director of the Centre for Disease Modelling, researches the spread and persistence of infectious diseases, including measles. She is available for media interviews.
