York University congratulates Frank Scarpitti on re-election as Mayor of City of Markham

TORONTO, October 28, 2014 – York University congratulates Frank Scarpitti on his re-election as Mayor of the City of Markham in a solid mandate to continue leading one of Canada’s fastest growing municipalities.

“We are extremely pleased to continue collaborating with Mayor Scarpitti and all members of City Council on York’s proposed new campus in the heart of Markham Centre,” says Mamdouh Shoukri, President and Vice-Chancellor of York University. “Mayor Scarpitti was a key player in the development of our submission to the Province that will, if approved, provide post-secondary education close to home for the people of York Region.
