York U experts available to offer back-to-school tips on personal and financial well-being

TORONTO, Aug 26, 2014 – With back-to-school time here again, students and parents can be stressed about issues such as personal and financial health. York University experts in the Faculty of Health and the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies are available to offer helpful tips on how to make the best choices during the academic year.
Professor Jennifer Kuk in the Department of Kinesiology & Health Sciences, whose research focuses on characterizing obesity, related health risks, and examining physical activity using both exercise interventions and epidemiological approaches, is available to offer tips on the below areas relating to campus life:

  • Healthy food habits, including portion control
  • Balancing food and a workout regimen for keeping fit
  • Fitness tips to avoid the “frosh 15”
  • Healthy fast-food choices, including how to choose healthy food on-the-go

Professor Jodi Letkiewicz in the School of Administrative Studies, who teaches personal investment management, is available to offer tips on managing personal finance:

  • How to help your children learn budget basics, manage money and stretch resources when away from home
  • How to be frugal and best manage your financial resources as a student
