TORONTO, June 7, 2012 − York University welcomes the action taken by Toronto Police in the alleged fraud conducted by two former employees.

As a not-for-profit institution entrusted with monies from our students and public funds, York University takes its fiduciary responsibilities very seriously and has rigorous procurement policies and procedures in place.

York University first identified the alleged fraudulent activity, and we immediately engaged a third party forensic audit firm and contacted Toronto Police Service. York officials have actively supported the Toronto Police Service over the past several months during its investigation.

York University is in the process of taking steps to recover the funds.
