Bullying experts call for national strategy at Toronto conference

TORONTO, June 14, 2012 – Canada’s foremost experts in the field of bullying will unveil new best practices and tools for front-line workers and call for a national strategy at a national conference on bullying prevention.

“Canada does really well in reading and math, but we do poorly on the quality of children and youths’ relationships,” says Dr. Debra Pepler, Distinguished Research Professor of Psychology at York University, Adjunct Scientist at the Hospital for Sick Children and Scientific Co-director of the Promoting Relationships and Eliminating Violence Network (PREVNet) — a Canada-wide network of bullying prevention researchers and organizations, and co-host of the conference.

WHO: Research experts from universities and national organizations across North America, Disney star and singer Jasmine Richards and Travis Price (founder of Pink Shirt Day).
