Osgoode Hall Law School’s Innocence Project profiled

TORONTO, March 31, 2011—York University Professor Alan Young, director of the Innocence Project at Osgoode Hall School, along with law students Alex Melfi and Ziba Heydarian, will be featured on CBC’s The fifth estate airing April 1, 2011 at 9pm.

The Innocence Project is a clinical program at Osgoode Hall Law School which seeks to address the problem of wrongful convictions. Osgoode Hall Law School students and faculty volunteer their time in an effort to assist individuals who claim to have been wrongfully convicted. 

Ludmila Ilina has maintained steadfastly that she was wrongly convicted of murdering her husband Ted in their Winnipeg home. Sent to prison for life on the strength of circumstantial and forensic evidence and she is now being assisted by Young and his law students, who believe the same evidence that convicted her could now absolve her.

When:  A Question of Innocence airs Friday, April 1, at 9 pm on CBC Television’s The fifth estate.

CBC News Network rebroadcasts the fifth estate on Saturdays, at 8 p.m. ET; Sundays, at 7 p.m. ET; and Tuesdays, at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
