Osgoode Hall Law Professor Allan Hutchinson’s provocatively titled book Is Eating People Wrong? Great Legal Cases and How they Shaped the World, was featured on CTV.ca on Sunday, January 30; click here to read the article. Hutchinson, a Distinguished Research Professor at York, looks at eight legal cases in the book, and how they have influenced common law. The cases include a group of stranded sailors who had to choose whether to eat one of their dying mates or starve (they chose eating); and a woman who drank a bottle of ginger beer, only to find the remains of a dead snail at the bottom.
