TORONTO, November 9, 2009 --  The Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto, Canada today officially launched the Schulich MBA in India – India's newest MBA program.

The Schulich MBA in India is the first MBA program to be delivered in that country by a leading international business school from outside India. The program has received government approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the national regulatory body governing school accreditation and the delivery of degree programs in India.

The inaugural class of the Schulich MBA in India will begin on January 4, 2010. Year 1 of the Schulich MBA will be delivered at the S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) in Mumbai, the commercial capital of India. Year 2 will be taught in Toronto at the Schulich School of Business. Schulich faculty will deliver the majority of the courses in Mumbai and all courses in Toronto.

“Schulich is proud to provide one of the first truly international MBA degree programs to be offered in India,” said Schulich Dean Dezsö J. Horváth. “The Schulich MBA in India will offer tremendous opportunities for Indian students looking to acquire world-class management training. It aims to attract the best and the brightest students from India and prepare them for global careers in India and around the world.” Added Horváth: “The launch of the new MBA in India is an important step in realizing Schulich’s goal of becoming a truly transnational business school.”

“The expectation is that we’re training global citizens so they can take their business skills to any country in the world,” said Ashwin Joshi, Executive Director of the Schulich MBA in India Program and Schulich Associate Professor of Marketing.
