TORONTO, August 12, 2008 -- The Tait McKenzie Centre reopened on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. for all sports and recreation programming.
The physical education centre served as a shelter for more than 180 people earlier this week, following a major explosion and fire which forced the evacuation of residents in a neighbourhood to the southeast of the university. Many of the people who came to the York shelter have returned home or found other housing, and the remainder are being provided with alternative accommodation.
