Tait McKenzie closed Monday

Examinations and other university operations continue as usual

 

TORONTO, August 10, 2008 -- York University, in cooperation with the City of Toronto, has closed its Tait McKenzie Centre in order to shelter evacuees following an explosion and fire on Murray Road in the Keele/Wilson area of Toronto on Sunday morning.

 

More than 150 residents of the affected neighbourhood were evacuated to the Tait McKenzie building at York’s Keele campus early Sunday, and are being offered shelter overnight. For further information about the Murray Road fire, please see the City of Toronto website, at www.toronto.ca.

 

Examinations will take place at York as scheduled on Monday. Activities that were to take place at Tait McKenzie on Monday have been moved to other locations, and all participants have been notified.
