TORONTO, January 29, 2008 -- York University welcomes today’s announcement by the Ontario government of more than $12.6 million in funding for facilities and infrastructure improvements, as part of a larger investment for postsecondary campuses across the province.
“This funding will enable us to make immediate investments on pressing capital-related projects that will ultimately benefit our students,” said Mamdouh Shoukri, president and vice-chancellor of York University. "We are grateful to the government of Ontario for supporting our ongoing initiatives aimed at renewing and modernizing our infrastructure to provide a more effective learning environment where research and higher learning can thrive.”
Today’s announcement by the government of Ontario totals $200 million for campus renewal projects for Ontario’s publicly-funded colleges and universities and is part of the $1.4 billion infrastructure fund announced in the province’s Fall Economic Statement.
