Global national broadcasts live from York University

TORONTO, December 6, 2005 -- York University was the site of a special news broadcast and Election 2006 "road trip" on Global National News.

The December 5th show aired live across the country (from 6:30 -7:00 p.m.) from the Glendon campus manor house and featured approximately 40 York students.

The topic: voter apathy, particularly among young people. Host Kevin Newman engaged audience members in a candid discussion about the latest polling data and asked why so many young people feel disengaged from traditional federal parties and the political process.

The show was seen by an estimated 915,000 viewers from coast to coast. Faculty guests included Patrick Monahan, Dean, Osgoode Hall Law School, Ken McRoberts, Principal of Glendon College, Prof. Alan Middleton, Schulich School of Business and Osgoode Prof. Bruce Ryder.
