Share

September 16, 2005 -- York University is committed to respecting the religious beliefs and practices of all members of the community, and making accommodations for observances of special significance to students, faculty and staff.

Please note the following:

·      No classes or exams will be held on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur or the evenings prior to these religious holy days (Monday, October 3 from 7-10 p.m.; all day Tuesday, October 4 and all day Wednesday, October 5, 2005).

·      No classes or exams will be held on Good Friday (April 14), which is also a public holiday.

·      No exams will be held on the first two and last two days of Passover.

·      Information on York’s policy on Religious Accommodation may be found here.

·      When arrangements between the student and instructor cannot be made, or if the student does not feel comfortable about approaching the instructor to request a religious accommodation, then the student should contact the associate dean of the faculty in which the course is offered. Students are required to contract the associate dean not less than 14 days prior to the start of the examination and, if requested to do so, present evidence concerning the religious obligations involved.

If students have any questions, they should contact Student Client Services in the Student Services Centre at 416-872-9675.
