York U. spirit squad opening act at Argos’ victory rally in Nathan Phillips Square

TORONTO, November 23, 2004 -- York University's Spirit Squad helped to warm up the jubilant crowd which gathered at Nathan Phillips Square today in celebration of the Argos’ Grey Cup win over the  B.C. Lions.

 

York's cheerleaders, dance squad and Lions mascots took to the stage at 11:30 a.m. and performed their routine through until the arrival of the Argos.

 

York’s Keele campus is the future home of the Toronto Argonauts – featuring a new 25,000-seat stadium, due to be completed in time for the Argonauts 2006 season. (For more on the stadium story, click here.)

 

York is the alma mater of several Argos including team co-owner David Cynamon, players Jeff Johnson, Frank Hoffman, and team athletic therapist Erin Brooks.

 

Argos Offensive Centre Chad Folk is a student in York’s faculty of education and head coach Mike (Pinball) Clemons holds an Honorary Doctorate from York.
