New art works to be unveiled at York University
WHO: Internationally renowned sculptor, Kunlun Zhang will unveil his latest piece at the AKASA gallery in the York University Student Centre. The 63 year old art professor and former Amnesty International “Prisoner of Conscience” made news headlines as the first Falun Gong practitioner released from Chinese labour camp due to international pressure in 2001. Zhang, the founder and former director of the Sculpture Research Institute at Shandong Art University in China and a past visiting scholar at McGill, is listed in the “Who’s Who”, “The Collected Works of Sculptures in the World”, and, “The Dictionary of Outstanding Chinese in the World.” Zhang will unveil “The Cage” as part of the “Uncompromising Courage” collection.
