TORONTO, July 27, 2004 -- York University President and Vice-Chancellor Lorna Marsden spoke on the role and responsibilities of a university president in an interview on CBC Radio's Metro Morning today. Host Jane Hawtin talked with Dr. Marsden about the demands of the job and how they might have changed in recent years.
Dr. Marsden emphasized the importance of academic qualifications and characterized the non-academic duties, such as securing funding from government and donors, as essential to furthering the university's primary purposes of research and teaching.
