York U. roundtable on Middle Eastern peace features visiting scholars from Israel, Jordan, Palestinian territories

TORONTO, May 14, 2004 – York University is hosting a roundtable discussion featuring three prominent visiting scholars who will discuss the continued need for peace and understanding in the Middle East, Monday, May 17, 4:30-6 p.m.

 

Panelists are: Dr. Hani Abdeen, Dean of Medicine, Al-Quds University, Jerusalem; Dr. Hillel Bercovier, Vice President Research, The Hebrew University, Jerusalem; Dr. Wajih Owais, President, Jordan University of Science and Technology, Amman. The scholars are part of the Canada International Scientific Exchange Program (CISEPO).

 

The roundtable will be moderated by Prof. Saeed Rahnema, noted Middle East expert and political science coordinator at York’s Atkinson Faculty of Liberal and Professional Studies.

 

The event, which will take place in the Founders College Assembly Hall (Room 152) at York’s Keele Campus, is sponsored by Shalom-Salam at York and the Office of the Associate Vice-President International. A reception will follow 6-7 p.m.
