TORONTO, March 19, 2004 -- York University is officially recognizing the United Nation’s International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, with several events to mark the occasion.
The events are sponsored by York’s Centre for Race and Ethnic Relations and the Office of the Advisor to the University on the Status of Women through The March 8 - 21 Coalition at York. The coalition was established to coordinate a month-long roster of events around International Women's Day (March 8) and the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (March 21).
"York University’s students, faculty and staff truly reflect the multicultural character and values of Canadian society, which includes a commitment to mutual respect and understanding," said York University President and Vice-Chancellor Lorna Marsden.
