TORONTO, December 16, 2003 -- Two York University profs are keenly anticipating tonight’s midnight opening of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, based on the trilogy of fantasy author J.R.R. Tolkien.
Norma Rowen, a professor of Humanities, specializes in fantasy and children's literature. She is currently involved in teaching a upper level courses on the works of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien and on evolving images of the vampire.
Carole Carpenter, an English professor, specializes in children's literature and culture, folklore as a discourse of identity and the work of Tolkien.
