York U experts follow prescription drug story

TORONTO, November 14, 2003 -- The controversy over prescription drugs continues as more US border states contemplate supplying their needs through Canadian pharmaceutical marketing firms. The issue has raised many questions about the pharmaceutical industry in Canada including research and development, drug-testing, marketing and international trade issues. York University faculty members are at the forefront of the debate with recent published studies and are available to comment.

Pharmaceutical Marketing and Testing

Dr. Joel Lexchin – Medical doctor and health researcher with the School of Health Policy and Management at York University, Dr. Lexchin has been researching pharmaceutical policy issues for more than 20 years and is regarded as an international expert in the areas of promotion of pharmaceuticals and regulatory approval systems for new drugs.
