TORONTO, October 16, 2003 -- The following York U. scholars are available to provide context and informed analysis on uniting Canada’s political right in light of the recent merger deal between the Canadian Alliance and Progressive Conservative Party:

Sylvie Arend, a political scientist at York’s Glendon College, is an leading expert on Canadian political leaders, women and politics, electoral boundary redistribution.

David Shugarman, a political science professor and director of York University's Centre for Practical Ethics, has researched and written about political ethics, protest parties, movements and Western alienation.

Patrick Monahan, a professor of law and Dean of Osgoode Hall Law School, is a leading expert on the constitution, the future of democratic reform and intergovernmental relations.

Robert Drummond, dean of York’s Faculty of Arts, is a political science professor with extensive knowledge of Ontario politics and public policy.

Bernie Wolf, a professor of economics in York’s Schulich School of Business, can comment on tax and fiscal policies of the two parties.

Daniel Drache, a professor of political science, is a leading expert on trade, the WTO and health-care issues.
