TORONTO, November 2, 2001 -- Mike Lazaridis, president and co-CEO of Research in Motion (RIM) will be presented with the OPAS Visionary Award for 2001 and will present his vision of the future of his company and industry. This is the 5th annual Visionary Seminar, presented by The Office for Partnerships for Advanced Skills (OPAS), an affiliate of the Council of Ontario Universities.
The presentation, which is being sponsored by Bell Canada, will originate from the University of Waterloo and will be transmitted live via satellite and webcast to 20 university campuses in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.
Members of the media are invited to attend the satellite broadcast, which will run from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. EST. After his formal remarks, Mr. Lazaridis will answer questions posed from the various university campuses.

Visionary Seminar
The Visionary Seminar is designed to provide a forum for industry representatives, university faculty and students to join together to assess an informed vision of the future. Previous Visionary speakers have included Ted Rogers (CEO, Rogers Communications Inc.), Jean Monty (then Chief Executive, Nortel), John Sheridan (President, Bell Canada) and John Cleghorn (Chairman and CEO of Royal Bank Financial Group).
