TORONTO, June 14, 2001 -- James Houston, a prime influence in the development of Inuit art and the only three-time winner of the Canadian Library Association Book of the Year for Children Award, will receive an honorary degree from York University on Monday, June 18.
Houston will receive his honorary Doctor of Letters degree (DLitt) and will address convocation at 2:30 p.m.
Media welcome to attend. Both convocation ceremonies will be held on York's Keele Campus, in the Convocation tent, located east of the Centre for Film and Theatre, 4700 Keele Street.
