TORONTO, April 16, 2001 -- Graduating students of York University’s Visual Arts Department will showcase their work in an Open House April 26 and 27.
The Transformers of 2001 exhibition will feature painting, sculpture, mixed media, photography, drawing, digital images, time-based new media, installation and performance works, print media and video. Fourth-year artists in the Class of 2001 will display their work in the Visual Arts studios, turning York’s Centre for Fine Arts into a giant art gallery.
Complementing the undergrad show on Thurs. April 26, graduate students in the MFA Visual Arts program will welcome the public to their personal studio spaces on the second floor of the building, offering a behind-the-scenes look at their work-in-progress.
The open house will give visitors the opportunity to meet the next wave of talented young artists who are completing their professional training at York under the mentorship of some of Canada’s leading visual artists. Full-time faculty in the Department of Visual Arts include Jon Baturin, Ted Bieler, Claude Breeze, Michael Davey, Hugh LeRoy, Janet Jones, Katherine Knight, Barbara McGill Balfour, Nancy Nicol, Bruce Parsons, Judith Schwarz, Yvonne Singer, Nell Tenhaaf, and Tim Whiten.
