TORONTO, January 22, 2001 -- The Schulich School of Business at York University is one of the world's top ten non-US business schools, according to a highly-respected global ranking released today by the Financial Times of London.
The list of top ten non-US business schools includes such prominent schools as Insead, IMD, London Business School and the Richard Ivey School at the University of Western Ontario, the only other Canadian school to make the top ten list.
In terms of the global rankings, Schulich was ranked 35th overall -- up ten positions from last year's survey despite the increased competition. Nine Canadian schools made the top 100 ranking. Four of those schools -- Schulich, Ivey, McGill and the Rotman School at the University of Toronto -- made the world's top 50 list.
"We believe the rankings reflect our growing stature as a leading business school, both here in Canada and abroad," said Dezs– J. Horv·th, Dean of the Schulich School of Business. Several months ago Schulich ranked a close second in the first-ever comprehensive survey of MBA programs in Canada conducted by Canadian Business magazine.
One hundred and thirty-seven schools from around the world were selected by the Financial Times in June of last year to take part in the 2001 global survey. Only the top 100 schools -- described as "the cream of the world's full-time MBA programs" -- were ranked by the newspaper. There are an estimated 1,500 MBA programs available around the world.
