York University experts available for comment on the Trans-Pacific Partnership

The tentative deal arrived at today by the 12 members of the Trans-Pacific Partnership is expected to have wide-ranging impact for many sectors of the economy.

The following experts from York University are available for comment:

Bernard Wolf, Professor Emeritus and Director of the Certificate in Managing International Trade and Investment at the Schulich School of Business, can comment on: the vital importance of the agreement for Canada; impact on supply management (milk industry etc); Canada’s enormous trade prospects in Asia; and impact on the automotive industry.

Gus Van Harten, Associate Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School and investment treaty expert, can comment on: TPP investment chapter and IP chapter; concerns about concluding the deal in the midst of an election campaign; and what we can expect in terms of concessions (in the absence of a text) based on other recent agreements of the Harper government.
